Gene & Melody Sheets

Gene Sheets has been serving as an Elder at Monterey since August of 2022. He and his wife, Melody, have been a part of the Monterey family since 2017. Gene and Melody were married in 1973.  They have three children – Brandon, Holli (and husband Jay), and Layne (and wife Hayley). “Mimi” and “Ducky” have five grandchildren – Brynn, Martin, Ruby, Boone, and Griffin. Gene graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and Master’s degree in Education from Abilene Christian University. He then received an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University. After 34 years in education, Gene retired from Muleshoe Independent School District as Superintendent. He now teaches Educational Leadership at Lubbock Christian University. Gene and Melody also own a company that contracts cafeteria services to schools in Texas. Gene enjoys traveling, mentoring school superintendents, and spending time with family and grandchildren.  One of Gene’s favorite passages of scripture is Ephesians 2:1-10.
