Mike & Bonnie Martin

Mike Martin has been serving as an Elder for Monterey for the past five years. Mike married Bonnie Farris Martin in 1973, and they have been members of Monterey for many years. The Martins have two grown sons together and are also blessed by three grandkids, as well as two additional claimed grandsons. Mike and Bonnie have “dogs galore,” but no cats- of course. Mike graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 1972 with his Bachelor’s degree in Science and obtained his Master’s in Mathematics from Texas Tech University in 1974. Mike recently retired from 40 years of working for SWBT/AT&T in various positions. Mike’s favorite verses are 1 John 3:18, which reads “ Dear Children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in Truth,” and “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10). Other staff members say Mike is gifted in teaching, administration, and encouragement. He wants to be available for the Spirit to use him in God's Kingdom, whether that is sweeping the floor, taking out the trash, or talking in a classroom. Mike enjoys woodworking, reading and, most of all, spending time with his grandkids. Mike believes our goal is always to be God's servants, acting as His hands and feet in a troubled world, to bring others peace and grace, with the Glory given to God in all things.
