PREACHING MINISTER SEARCH UPDATES
After 23 years as the Senior Minister for the Monterey Church of Christ, Dr. Barry Stephens shared his decision to step away from full-time ministry as the Senior Minister for Monterey later this year. The Monterey Elders empaneled a Transition Committee in January of 2023, and this group conducted “Listening Sessions” with members over the course of four weeks to get a pulse on the congregation. The information gathered from these groups has provided important data to set the course for the search for the next preaching minister for Monterey.
A Search Committee was selected and commissioned during worship services on Sunday, April 14. The Search Committee has been meeting weekly since that time to establish working plans to conduct a search and begin the process of identifying candidates who would be most well-suited to be the next Preaching Minister for the Monterey church.
The Search Committee members are:
Kayla Adams, Dawn Conwright, Kathy Dawson Fowler, Albert Gillispie, Hutch Haley, Charles Lindsey, Carly McMinn, Warren McNeill, Eric Opton, Tad Poteet, Macy Skipworth, and Josh Stephens.
Please pray for the members of the Search Committee, asking the Spirit to guide them as they continue the process of the search. The committee plans to provide monthly updates regarding the search to the congregation and those updates will be shared on this page.
