Scott Gwinn

Scott Gwinn has been serving as an Elder at Monterey since November of 2012. Scott and his wife, DeAnn, have two children together (Carter and Mackenzie), who currently live in Denver, CO. Scott was born in Ft. Worth and grew up in Garland, Tx. He parted his hair down the middle of his head briefly in 1979, and moved to Lubbock to play baseball while coincidentally attending college in 1981. After playing baseball one season, Scott was asked to stop but kept attending college anyway for some reason, graduating from Lubbock Christian College with his BSA in 1984. Scott and DeAnn have no pets in their home, but do have squirrels in their backyard that eat his irrigation tubes- converting them from adorable God creatures to targets. Scott has several hobbies and interests, which include but are not limited to: golf, which inspires the need for repentance; lawn work, but he wishes leaves did not have to die; DIY projects, followed by professional correction; cutting his own head hairs, followed by professional correction; hiking, not the hitch kind; and putting food inside his mouth, chewing it, and swallowing it. Scott has many accomplishments, and even finished 5 th at Daytona once. He overcame a crippling fear of belts, but still struggles with suspenders. Scott socially distanced himself from people who know too many details about Harry Potter and Star Wars movies before social distancing was “a thing.” He also made up the term, “it is what it is.” Scott’s favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 13:13, and other staff members say his spiritual gifts are service, administration, and encouragement. Scott currently works in Orthopedic Sales, and intends to take the secret to folding a fitted sheet, as well as perhaps a few squirrels, to his grave.
